Topic: HNS Preparedness and response an evolving challenge for the region
Abstract (not more than 150 Words):
The ROPME sea area is well prepared to deal with oil spill, but as with most other parts of the world is less prepared to deal with an HNS/ HAZMAT incident. Becoming better will present a number of challenges to industry and governments and this session will look at the key challenges, these challenges include legislation, assessment of the risk profile and capacity building to handle the HNS incidents. A HNS incident presents a very different HSE risk profile to a “classical” oil spill and particularly so in terms of training and competence of response personnel and the specialised equipment resources required both of which will feature prominently in the presentation.
