Session:TS-6 Competency Assessment &Organisational Capabilities
Topic:Developing the complete responder
Abstract (not more than 150 Words):
People will always be the industry’s greatest asset; that is why it is important to recruit carefully and spend time, money and energy developing staff to be the best they can be – developing ‘competency’.
Whilst we talk about developing competency, a lot of the focus is undoubtably directed towards developing technical skills. Technical skills are certainly important but without supplementing these with a good behavioural framework, the effectiveness of a responder is limited. In achieving balance, a holistic approach is key to the whole life development of an individual and for ensuring organisational agility.
In this session, we will reflect upon what has been learned from over 10 years delivering a comprehensive accredited competency management system and what future developments may look like. We will also delve into how talent management and well-established adult learning principles can be used to recruit, develop and assure our most valuable assets - people.
